Buko halo halo is a halo-halo mixture served in coconut shell together with the young coconut meat. It is usually served showing the colorful contents on the top. It is quite popular during the hot summer months. Buko halo halo is also a favorite Filipino dessert or snack because it is cold and refreshing,perfect for beating the tropical heat that exists almost year round in the Philippines.
Ingredients:
Buko( young coconut )
Buko water
Flavored red gelatin, cubed
Flavored black gelatin, cut into strips
Kaong in syrup
Nata in Bottle/Nata de coco in syrup
Shaved ice
Ice cream( e.g. ube flavor )
Cheese
Cornflakes or pinipig cereal
Cooking Instructions:
Chop the top of the buko to make it into a bowl. Reserve the buko water.
Add all the eother ingredients into the buko. Be sure to layer them.
Add the shaved ice and a little of the buko water to give it more flavor.
Top with ice cream/Ube jam or any ube flavor.
Sprinkle with cornflakes or pinipig. Serve immediately.
